OUR FIRST EVENT OF 2021 WILL START IN A FEW HOURS... & WE HAVE ADDED ANOTHER GUEST SPEAKER TO OUR AGENDA!

MANAGING EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING FOR TRAUMA

We have added a new speaker to address the increased prevalence of mental health problems in the critical-care nursing population. Prolonged emotional distress and exposure to increased mortality rates in our ICU patients are making our nurses more vulnerable to developing ongoing traumatic stress problems. Please join Luis Bravo, MSW, ACSW, as he discusses how to manage our emotional well-being during traumatic situations

Luis Bravo, MSW, ACSW, is a clinical therapist at the Riverside University Health Systems (RUHS) - Behavioral Health department and has 25 years of experience in the behavioral sciences. He holds a master's degree in Social Work from Loma Linda University and an undergraduate degree from California Baptist University in Interdisciplinary Studies. For 12 years he's diligently worked to serve the severe and persistent mentally ill and has become passionate about the well-being of first responders. His approaches for providing psychotherapy treatment are Adlerian Psychodynamics, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma Resiliency Model. Before working for RUHS, Luis worked for 7 years with the California Department of Corrections, where he provided behavioral health modification to inmates in the civil addict program. He has also been involved in providing behavioral modification strategies to adjudicated juveniles.

REDUCING PNEUMONIA RISK FACTORS (HAP OR NV-HAP)

As critical care nurses, we dedicate our professional careers to care for the frail and elderly. One of the leading causes of death in our elderly population is pneumonia. Although age is nonmodifiable, there are many preventative strategies we can utilize to reduce the incidence of pneumonia in this population.

Join us for a lecture regarding the reduction of pneumonia risk factors presented by Kathleen Vollman RN, MSN, CCNS, FCCM, FAAN.

Ms Vollman has published and lectured both nationally and internationally on critical care nursing topics. She has served as Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Medical ICUs at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. And has founded her own company, which focuses on creating empowered work environments for nurses. She is adjunct faculty at Michigan State University and has been inducted in both the College of Critical Care Medicine and the American Academy of Nurses. Ms. Vollman has served an an honorary ambassador to the World Federation of Critical Care Nurses in 2012 and continues bo be involved with this organization as the financial director.

We look forward to having you join us for this special event!
