Dear Chapter Members,

It will soon be time to transition to a new leadership team. Board member elections will soon be open between Monday, May 13th and Friday, June 21st with positions being formally announced on Monday, July 1st, 2024.

We would like to encourage those of you who are interested in becoming a member of the leadership team to consider nominating yourself for an open board member position.

Both current and past board members alike can speak to the positive experiences being a board member can provide you. One such board member, Nicholas McGowan, would like to share how his experience as part of our leadership team has enriched his professional career.

Serving as a board member for the Inland Empire Chapter of AACN has brought a wealth of benefits to both my personal and professional development. One of the primary benefits has been the opportunity to expand my network of colleagues and professionals within the healthcare industry. Being part of the board means being connected to other like-minded individuals who share similar goals, interests, and expertise. These connections have led to greater career opportunities, collaborations, and friendships. Additionally, serving on the board has given me access to exclusive events and educational opportunities, which have further enhanced my knowledge and skills in the nursing field.

As a board member, I have had the privilege to participate in decision-making processes for the chapter- which allows a hands-on approach to shaping the direction and activities of the organization. This has strengthened my leadership skills and confidence in making important choices. Furthermore, being involved in the development of the chapter provides a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment as I contribute to the growth and success of the organization.

Lastly, serving on the board can open doors to starting your own entrepreneurial ventures. Being exposed to other healthcare professionals and industry leaders can provide valuable insights and inspiration for new ideas. The connections and knowledge gained through serving on the board have helped me build the necessary skills and resources to launch my own education business in the healthcare industry. Overall, serving as a board member for the AACN Inland Empire chapter can bring numerous benefits to both personal and professional growth.

Nicholas McGowan MSN, RN, CCRN

We look forward to welcoming our future leaders to the board,

Inland Empire Chapter of AACN
